Modeling of Pressure and Temperature Profiles for the Flow of CO2 through a Restriction

CO2 emissions due to massive industrialization have led several environmental issues. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is one of the most important technologies that can be used reduce anthropogenic worldwide. CCS projects mainly involve three processes: carbon capture, transportation, storage. In transportation process, modeling flow in pipelines relationships between pressure, velocity, temperature, density, phase stability are significance. Orifice plates a common tool for flowrate measurements. Several standards provide specifications implementation approach this type equipment item pipelines. study, through an orifice plate simulated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, namely ANSYS®, obtain temperature profiles. Model geometry properties defined suitable making comparison ISO-5167 empirical correlations similar reference which validate simulation results.
